How the Autonomous Business Stack works
The stack is the whole operating team: an AI CEO plus content and social, research, development and customer support. Each department has a focused job and can work beside its human owner; together, selected departments share context and pass work through CEO-led handoffs. You set goals and boundaries, supply the business facts only you know, and decide where approval is needed. The setup depends on the selected product and the accounts you authorize.
The stack and its parts
What is an AI agent?
An AI agent is software that works toward a goal through a series of steps. A language model handles language and reasoning; connected tools provide actions, while instructions and permissions set boundaries. A chatbot can use tools too, so look at the actions and checks in the specific setup. Results can be wrong, so people check important work.
Who is the AI CEO, and how is that different from ChatGPT or a model?
The AI CEO is the coordinating role: it turns your goals into priorities, routes defined work and brings decisions back to you. At Claw Prime, Echo is the reference example; your business can use names and identities you choose. A model generates language and reasoning; ChatGPT is OpenAI's chat-assistant product, with responses generated by models. The runtime and permissions shape which actions are available.
What is Hermes Agent?
A runtime starts and manages an agent session, connecting its model to instructions, saved context and available tools. Hermes Agent, from Nous Research, is one example. The runtime manages the session; the model generates responses.
What does an agent skill do?
A skill is reusable written guidance for a kind of task. It can describe steps, examples and boundaries; connected tools and permissions determine which actions are available.
What are tools?
Tools are actions an agent can call, such as searching an approved source or reading an authorized business record. The product's connections and access rules determine which tools are available for each task.
How does recurring work start?
A recurring schedule starts an agreed task at set times or intervals. Developers often call this a cron job. The schedule starts a run; a separate check confirms whether the intended result arrived.
What do the specialist departments do?
The CEO sets priorities and coordinates handoffs. Content and social prepares material, research checks questions against sources, development handles defined technical work, and customer support responds to customer needs. People can own and review work in each department.
How is a department different from the full stack?
A standalone department handles a defined part of your business and works directly with you; it does not require an AI CEO purchase. Its agent guides setup and operates its workflows. The full stack connects the departments under an AI CEO, with shared business context and handoffs between roles. Departments reuse shared foundations when combined. The selected package defines the included workflows and connections.
How work is remembered and checked
How do memory, conversation history and current records differ?
Memory is selected context saved for future work. Conversation history records an earlier exchange. A current record shows the latest task or customer state in its authoritative system. Use that record for a current decision; saved context helps a future run start with useful background. For more on continuity between sessions, read the existing Hermes continuity article.
What is Command Central?
Command Central is Claw Prime's dashboard for projects, tasks, owners and recorded status. It gives our team a view of recorded work. For an external change, check the destination's own record.
Where does human approval fit?
You set which steps can run, which pause for review and which need your approval. Keep decisions and commitments with the person responsible for them. Check the selected product's instructions for its approval points; for more detail, read the existing guide to human approval in an AI agent workflow.
What is a receipt, and how do I verify a result?
A receipt records what happened during an action. Your agent checks the result at its destination and explains what completed, what failed and what needs your decision. You should be able to ask for the evidence without hunting through logs. For more on verification, read the existing article on checking AI-agent results.
What should happen when a run fails or the result is unclear?
Sometimes an action finishes before a timeout appears. The agent should check what actually happened before retrying, repair what it can within its permissions, and explain anything still unresolved. It brings you the decisions or missing access that genuinely require you.
Setup, costs and control
What should I provide during setup?
Tell your agent what you want to accomplish, who you serve, what you offer and which decisions you want to keep. It guides setup and checks the required connections. You provide the business facts only you know and authorize access to your accounts; routine configuration is the agent's job. The selected package defines the supported runtime and services.
Who handles maintenance, and what costs continue?
Before setup, confirm who maintains account connections, monitors runs, handles failures and pays recurring software, model, provider or usage charges. Check the current listing and provider terms for amounts, billing cadence and support responsibilities.
Where does business data go, and who controls accounts and results?
Choose which records and accounts to connect. Check which providers or people can access them, how long data is kept, how deletion works, whether data and results can be exported, and who controls accounts and owns results under the written license. Claw Prime's private records and proprietary material stay outside the buyer's setup.
What does white-label mean?
White-label means presenting a product under your brand within the rights in its written license. Before offering it to customers, check which branding can change, who controls connected accounts, who bills and who supports the end customer.
Choose a first workflow
Start with a customer problem and test the offer in real conversations. Deliver the work, track time, costs, misses and repeat requests. Automate a step once its inputs, owner, expected result and recovery path are clear. Review the next run and decide what to change.
